In 2026, we hosted a creative project exploring change in urban space. There was an open call for aspiring photographers to participate, alongside a workshop on photography techniques host at our Niemetzstraße space.
Refuge Worldwide, Unity In The Community and Safelight Film Lab collaborated on the photography competition, inviting up-and-coming photography enthusiasts to submit work under the theme "A City In Transition." The city could be anywhere: participants were encouraged to bring personal perspectives on transformation, whether social, cultural, political, architectural, or emotional, and to shoot on any medium they chose. The competition was open to amateur, hobbyist, and emerging photographers; not those making their primary living through photography. Winners received prizes from EDWIN, photography brands Polaroid and CineStill, as well as from the hosts.
A free workshop was hosted by Lê Quyên Nguyễn, a Berlin-based visual artist, photographer and AI content creator. This session was open to the public, as always with priorty access for people from marginalised backgrounds.
